Car seat safety: measures to keep children

"Child safety seats reduce the risk of fatal injury by 71 percent for the infants and 54 percent for toddlers in passenger cars".

-National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)

The case of child car seats and child restrictions is evident. Since 1975, the NHTSA has estimated that more than 9,000 children were saved by safety seats for children or adult safety belts. While most people used car seats for babies and children, many people incorrectly using them is astounding - up to 95% in some areas! (CarSafety.org). There are many resources to help parents with child seat safety and included some tips and links to ayudar…

1. The NHTSA has developed this easy 4 step reference to hear suggestions for age/weight for child safety seats.

2. The best way to know if your child safety seat is properly protected is to have a professional check it out.  When we create our car seat we thought we did a great job - until we take it to our local California Highway Patrol inspection station that it finds.  The official correctly installed for us and he showed us how to do this in the future.  The lesson was invaluable and I recommend it to anyone who has never installed a seat.  Be sure to do so before the baby is born so you can leave the hospital with tranquility.  You can find a local authority which will ensure that your seat properly protects NHTSA child seat inspection station locator security.

3 Selection of a seat - talk to people who know who children and read as many comments as possible.  Many sites like Amazon.com and BabiesRUs.com have published opinions and can be really useful.  The NHTSA also has a system of classification/review in the ease of use of various car seats.
